Being an artist , while living my artistic freedom, I never make any concessions and strive for the highest goals. My drawings are monumental as well as metaphorical, past and present melt into a new world. My work is considered dark by some, while others only focus on the light in my work. It is all a matter of perspective and world view.
I make large drawings, these drawings are more than 2 m in width and height.
My work has been on display during a solo exhibition ‘A World In Charcoal’ (Een Wereld in Houtskool), which was held in Pulchri Studio in The Hague, The Netherlands, from December 2018 till January 2019.
Margreet Hofland, wrote a critical review in the newspaper Den Haag Centraal; “It is a play of light and darkness”
For centuries etching and engraving techniques were used to print multiple images. Examples of artists who used these techniques and mastered these were; Rembrandt van Rijn 1606-1669; Giovanni Battista Piranesi 1720–1778 ; Gustave Doré 1832- 1883, to name a few. Time has moved on, quite a number of centuries later, technology nowadays enables us to use new techniques to print multiple images in one go. Due to these new techniques , art lovers globally are able to enjoy my charcoal drawings in the comfort of their own environment wherever they are.
My aluminium plated prints are art works by themselves, moreover, they give a wonderful representation of the actual physical drawing. Have I aroused your curiosity?
